What should I have for lunch today?

whats for lunch?

September 14th, 2006

ive been really boring, and trying to make better choices with my eating.
ive been bringing lean cuisine, and kashi frozen entrees to work for my lunches.

ive discovered that if you wait just long enough (2pm usually) ANYTHING tastes good and i dont mind these too bad.

The Trader Joes near us stopped carrying my favorite frozen burritos about a year ago. Im just about the worlds lamest person for having a favorite frozen burrito- but thats besides the point. They stopped carrying it, and it made me want to cry.
So often certain products that TJ carries will become unavailable to them for a period of time but will eventionally come back. I kept hoping. Each time we rounded the frozen isle please please please nope.
Its been a year. We moved and I hoped. Is it possible that just the Michigan TJ stopped having them? Maybe the Chicago TJ would have plenty?
I was disappointed our first month here. No burritos.
We went shopping yesterday and without much fanfare I rounded the corner only to find a brand new section cleared out specifically for my beloved burritos. I seriously considered buying every single one they had. They may never have them again....
I went with my better judgement (Matt) though and only bough three packages. 6 burritos. Lets please hope they dont stop having them again.
Today I had the first of those 6 for lunch. It was everything I remembered and more. Amazing. I didnt take a picture because I ate it.

El Tepa

I had a pretty bad day today so I went to get a burrito at lunch.

A few of you are familiar with the burritos at El Tepa. I've eaten there with two of you, and the burritos are about the same as El Toro, owned by the same people.

The two guys in the table next to me were complaining about how small the burritos were, and that they were bigger at a place down the street.

i ranted on and on about the good chinese i had for lunch yesterday to my brother, so today he wanted to go there. i couldnt refuse.

this time i ordered the sesame chicken, it was delicious.

PS my brother ordered the general tso chicken, and he loved it.

I went to El Tepa and had a rice and bean taco and a vegetarian taco. Delicious, although just rice and beans on a taco is a bit bland.

When I was in line, three people behind me ordered super burritos. One asked for carne asada, the next carnitas. They asked the third person what kind she wanted and she said, "Oh, I just want chicken." I didn't understand why chicken was "just chicken." It is less special or more plain than chopped up pork or beef?

Also, last time I asked about Classic Coke. Does anyone remember when they sold Coke in the "Coke Lover" sized cans?
I wish they still did because I always find when I finish a can of Coke I need just a few more ounces.

Today i clocked out at 1:48 and clocked back in at 2:24.
i went across the street to a new place called Tan's Asian Cafe. their menu says "Chinese good, Sushi, Salad, Fresh Fruits & Vegetable Juice, Coffee, Doughnuts. Eat In & Take Out".

from the lunch menu i ordered the general tso chicken which came with a choice of soup, i chose the egg drop.

i must say, it was some of the BEST general tso chicken ive ever had! my friend steve ordered the sesame chicken and it was also good.

It's Monday so I went with my old Monday regular and had Kung Pao tofu from Jade Palace.
The waitresses have started fighting over which section I sit in.

My fortune was: Watch for an out of town stanger to soon become a dear friend.

Today I'm bringing my lunch. Veggie lasagna, garlic bread and a "coke" I got at Whole Foods.
I was excited to see the Whole Foods soda was made with actual sugar! I tried one last night though, and it's not that good. I have five more to drink. They don't even contain caffeine!
I wish they made Coke with sugar. I'd pay extra for it. I want the real Coke classic back.

i'm sorry this is not ~lunch~ related, but it's breakfast related so that's close enough, right?

i just had a chocolate chip peanut crunch clif bar for breakfast. it was SO GOOD. i still maintain that clif bars look like chunks of wild animal poop, but the texture and flavor are really awesome.

i had beer battered fish and chips from mercury fish and chips (it's in the name, not the fish!) today. it was really good, like better than it's ever been before. usually it's greasy, but this time it was totally crisp and i didn't feel like i needed to wash my face after eating it.

the bad side of this is that they hell of raised their prices. it used to be $7 for this, and now it's $10. it totally sucks, but they made up for it by playing ace of base while i was there.

i think i'm feeling like chinese today guys. the place i usually go to is HUNAN PALACE and we call it PUNAN PALACE or PUNANI PALACE. i guess it's really not that funny, but when you sit at a desk and browse the internets all day, you need some entertainment somewhere.

anyways, i'll probably get sweet and sour chicken. what do you usually order from chinese?

you are practical person with your feet on the ground itb.

As much as I enjoy the taste of the pizza from this one place on MacDougal, my stomach does not enjoy it. Alas, I will no longer eat there for lunch. Tomorrow's and Thursday's lunches will be unexciting, but after our final on Friday our class is going to a Middle Eastern restaurant in Brooklyn.

food and moods

do you find that your food choice is based on your mood?

im feeling a little quiet and introspective today, almost "somber" and just wanted a comfort food for my lunch.

i went to a chinese buffet new to me near my work called the "king house" and got the buffet to go. some egg fried rice, general tso chicken, two crab rangoon and a mini eggroll!

all pretty delicous, i think i have new favorite!

fortune cookie: "the strengths in your character will bring you serenity" (itb)

ps. i also made a blueberry tea bag and am drinking the tea iced. all in all lunch was a good go.

July 7th, 2006

i drove my coworker to hungry howies, he wanted a pizza sub. i was just going to get a greek salad, but remembered that there is a moes in the plaza with hungry howies.

i ordered the ~john coctostan~ chicken quesadilla. i got tomatoes instead of beans. added guac and queso to the order to eat with my chips.

July 5th, 2006

i went to KFC today to get the "bowl"

when i got there and was waiting in line to order i saw the boneless wings on the menu and decided to order those instead. i asked for 6 honey bbq boneless wings, a side of mac and cheese and a fruit punch.

i also ordered for a coworker. i didnt check the bag at the window and i should have!

i came out of there with his correct order, but for me i have 12 pieces of boneless wings and potato wedges instead of mac and cheese. all in all, not a loss, but not my correct order. also, i think these wings might be the sweet and spicy and not the honey bbq.

Preheating the oven for my preferred at-home lunch: trader joe's frozen chicken chimichanga, topped with shredded cheese and sour cream. $2.50 for two chimichangas (I eat one each lunch), and $5-6 for a week or so's worth of cheese and sour cream.
